HIRAK : RISE OF A NATION

During more than a year, I documented the weekly demonstrations in the streets of Algiers. In April 2019, this massive soft revolution brought down Bouteflika, who had ruled the country for twenty years.

 

The Hirak carried on and revealed a new osmosis among this nation. All generations, all social classes, all political tendencies gathered together to ask for a better Algeria. In spite of a growing repression, the hirak continued through the months of 2019 and revealed  unique resistance and pacifism.

 

This series is a tribute to these tremendous demonstrators. A luta continua...
